Recruiting Roundup: UC Offers Pair of Four-Star Talents
CINCINNATI — We have a pair of notable offers on the table after another weekend of UC football.
The team had four-star West Bloomfield (Michigan) linebacker, Kari Jackson in for a visit and offered him while he was in town.
According to Rivals, Jackson is the 136th-ranked player nationally and is the seventh-best inside linebacker. He holds 13 offers and has only visited one other school—Michigan back in June.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound mauler knows how to use that frame. He is one of the more complete run-game defenders I've watched among UC offers. His patience is what stands out most. Jackson rarely gets caught in bad timing that screws up his leverage. A powerful point-of-attack hitter, Jackson produced a few eye-popping hits on my watch.
The play is never dead with this linebacker—I'd like to see more coverage snaps in his film. That ability in the passing game is something to watch over the next few months. Check out his highlights here.
The other half of this roundup is an offer to 2024 four-star tight end Damarion Witten out of Glenville (Ohio).
According to 247Sports, Witten is the 211th-best prospect in the class and the 33rd-ranked athlete. ESPN has him ranked 278th nationally and 11th among tight ends. He has eight offers and is crystal balled to pick Ohio State as of this writing.
Deep balls should come in bunches for Witten during his college career. The 6-foot-2, 208-pound talent is a walking 80-20 jump ball player. He is very comfortable catching passes in traffic. Add on a nasty mean streak as a blocker and there aren't many holes in his game.
The route tree development is something to monitor as he didn't have a wide variety of routes on display. Still, Witten can add that as he goes in his career. The will to block should make Nate Letton and the rest of the Bearcats staff gush across his recruiting period. Check out his highlights here.
