GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Count 'em up, Florida is about to face seven SEC opponents in a row before ending its 2023 season going against what is currently considered a top-five team in Florida State.

Pretty daunting, right? Fortunately for the Gators, Charlotte of the American Athletic Conference is in town this week, collecting a check worth over $1.5 million to — if all goes as expected — lose to Florida in a tune-up game before UF's conference slate gets underway fully and after it's upset victory over No. 11 Tennessee last week.

Odds: Florida is a 27.5-point favorite over Charlotte, according to the Sports Illustrated Sportsbook. The over/under is 48.5 points. 

Series history: Saturday marks the first meeting between Florida and Charlotte. The 49ers' football program debuted during the 2013 NCAA Division 1 FCS season and joined the FBS in 2015.
