Gators OT Commit Shuts Down Recruitment
Gators 2024 offensive tackle commitment Mike Williams concluded his recruitment on Wednesday, announcing that he will no longer hear out what other programs have to offer in favor of Florida.
"My recruitment is officially shut down," Williams wrote via Twitter. He's the seventh UF pledge in the 2024 cycle to make such a statement this month, following safeties Xavier Filsaime and Josiah Davis, running back Kahnen Daniels, linebackers Adarius Hayes and Myles Graham, and wide receiver Izaiah Williams.
Williams, from Upper Marlboro (Md.) Charles Herbert Flowers, committed to Florida on June 12 shortly following his official visit to campus. He had previously been committed to South Carolina for a little over a month, from April 19 to May 23, and was scheduled to visit the Gamecocks as well as Michigan State before he pledged to the Gators.

Formerly committed to SEC rival South Carolina, Williams picked Florida over USC, Michigan State and Miami among other contending programs. An extremely physical, heavy-handed offensive tackle with a towering frame, Williams has slimmed down from the 330-pound range to 310 pounds this offseason and is expected to display greater athleticism and fluidity on the field as a senior as a result. Although Florida will coach him up on both sides of the offensive line, Williams primarily brings right tackle playing experience to the table.
