Where Does Florida State Stack Up With The Five Prospects Committing This Weekend?

The Seminoles are in the running for multiple blue-chip prospects that will commit over the next few days.

Florida State has generated some serious momentum on the recruiting trail after landing four commitments earlier in July. The additions of four-star cornerback Ricky Knight III, four-star wide receiver Elijah Moore, four-star defensive end DD Holmes, and three-star safety Rydarrius Morgan have the Seminoles sitting with a top-15 2024 class.

The coaching staff isn't letting up either as FSU has an opportunity to rack up multiple commitments in a short time period for the second time this month. Five prospects that the Seminoles are involved with are scheduled to make their announcements this weekend.

Three-star offensive lineman Tye Hylton will announce his decision on Friday prior to a loaded Saturday that will include commitments from four-star offensive lineman Jonathan Daniels, four-star running back Micahi Danzy, three-star defensive back Kevin Levy, and three-star defensive back Ashton Hampton.

Hylton finished off his slate of official visits at Florida State after also checking out Penn State, Miami, and Florida in June. The Seminoles are still searching for their first commitment along the offensive line and the in-state prospect is a fit for what Alex Atkins likes to do. Hylton is athletic, versatile, and coachable.

This could be a big win for the Seminoles over the Gators and Hurricanes. One thing that impressed Hylton during his recent visit to Tallahassee was the brotherhood around the program.

"It's really like the brotherhood. Everybody here is tight, close," Hylton said previously. "I really like that, me personally, because of my development and stuff like that. The older guys helping out."

Daniels has been one of FSU's highest priorities on the recruiting trail since the beginning of the year. The Seminoles were able to make the last impression on him in June and recently were included in his top three alongside Georgia and Kentucky. The Bulldogs already have six offensive linemen committed and there's confidence that the coaching staff will be able to win out over the Wildcats for a prospect who is relatively local to the area.

The Florida native has built a solid connection with coach Atkins throughout his recruitment. The Seminoles believe he can fit in as an offensive tackle or guard at the college level.

"It is amazing. He keeps me as his number one priority. And that is why I like him the most - the bond that we are building," Daniels said previously. "He just says I need to develop more. But other than that I have the athleticism and everything else about it, just have to develop more, learn more."

Danzy has consistently named Florida State his leader throughout his recruitment. The local product lives right down the road and would have the opportunity to star on the football field and track if he chooses the Seminoles. Danzy is ranked as the second fastest in the world in the 400-meter dash in the U18 age group.

Interestingly enough, he had a pretty quiet June outside of two visits to Florida State. The Seminoles appear to be the favorite but Danzy is planning to officially visit Florida and Miami in December. Regardless, his feeling about the program close to home is different than others that are pursuing him.

"It's just I've been here so much and I've learned a lot," Danzy said previously. "I feel like this will be the right place. When I come here I feel different compared to other schools."

Levy is a prospect that the Seminoles have turned up the heat on throughout the year. After hosting him for an official visit in June, there's got to be confidence that Florida State will win out over the other three schools he visited last month - Illinois, Rutgers, and Louisville - as long as he’s a take.

There are multiple factors playing in FSU's favor in this recruitment. Defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. is making Levy a priority, who is a cousin of recent commitment, four-star cornerback Ricky Knight III. Head coach Mike Norvell impressed Levy during their meeting on the visit.

"The meeting was great," Levy said previously. "He [Norvell] was really telling me why they want me here at Florida State, why he thinks Florida State would be the best fit for me and anytime I feel like I can come, I can come."

Hampton is a teammate of Danzy at the high school level and someone that the Seminoles have had an interest in throughout the year. At the same time, he hasn't been back on campus since April and took official visits to Clemson, Florida, Arkansas, and Louisville in June. The Tigers are the perceived favorite going into the announcement.

As of now, the Seminoles are scheduled to host Hampton for an official visit in December. Depending on how things shake out with higher-profile targets such as five-star KJ Bolden and four-star Zaquan Patterson, FSU may push for a flip late in the recruiting cycle if things don't go their way on Saturday.

Florida State holds 15 verbal commitments and the No. 15 recruiting class in the country according to 247Sports. The Seminoles will have a chance to climb quickly in the rankings depending on how the weekend shakes out.
