Indiana Makes Top Eight For Marshall Transfer Micah Handlogten
Indiana is in the mix for 7-foot-1, 227-pound center Micah Handlogten from Marshall.
Handlogten' top eight schools are North Carolina State, Florida, Auburn, Georgia, Indiana, Missouri, Virginia and Arkansas, according to Cory Smith of 247Sports.
Handlogten entered the transfer portal after one season at Marshall, where he started 32 games and played 25.3 minutes per game. Handlogten averaged 7.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, 1.3 steals and 1.2 assists. He shot 71.1 percent on 2-point attempts, 54.3 percent at the free throw line and made 1-of-12 3-pointers.
Marshall went 24-8 overall and 13-5 in the Sun Belt with Handlogten as the team's leading rebounder, shot blocker and fifth-leading scorer. Handlogten was named Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, and he ranked 12th in the nation in blocks per game and 17th in rebounds per game.
He has three years of remaining eligibility.
He joined Marshall as a three-star recruit out of Southlake Christian Academy in Huntersville, N.C., where he averaged 17 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks per game as a senior. His father Ben Handlogten played 38 games in the NBA for the Utah Jazz from 2003-05 after playing four seasons at Western Michigan.
Indiana has already added an interior presence with Ball State transfer Payton Sparks, but coach Mike Woodson could continue to add size to his roster due to the departure of forwards Trayce Jackson-Davis, Race Thompson, Logan Duncomb and Jordan Geronimo.
