Kentucky basketball is ranked 16th in the preseason AP Poll
The college basketball preseason AP Poll was just released, and the Cats are ranked 16th.
Based on what the national media has been saying about the Cats, this feels like a fair ranking as this is a John Calipari team of old, thanks to all the young talent.
There are four other SEC teams in the rankings; let's take a look at which schools are ranked and where they are in the AP Poll.
#9 Tennessee
#14 Arkansas
#15 Texas A&M
#24 Alabama
This means that the Cats are the fourth-highest team in the SEC according to the first AP Poll of the college basketball season.
This Kentucky team will be ranked much higher than 16th at some point this season once Ugonna Onyenso and Aaron Bradshaw get healthy and Zvonimir Ivisic is cleared by the NCAA.
The Cats have one of the most talented rosters in college hoops based on future NBA talented and have veteran players like Tre Mitchell and Antonio Reeves that give this team the balance they need to be dangerous.
If guys like Justin Edwards, DJ Wagner, and Aaron Bradshaw pan out, watch out for the Cats this season, and you could argue they are being underrated heading into the season.
Another way to look at this is perhaps an underrated Kentucky basketball team is a good thing, and they could sneak up on some people.
