Takeaways from Kentucky basketball's Big Blue Madness
Another Big Blue Madness has come and gone, and goodness, was this a fun one.
The player introductions were exciting, as always, and Boogie Cousins was back in Lexington to introduce Coach Calipari.
We saw Antonio Reeves win the three-point shooting contest and freshman Joey Hart win the dunk contest.
It was a fun night, but what can we take away from Kentucky's 2023 Big Blue Madness?
This team looks like a tight group
You could tell from the little things that were going on during the three-point shooting and dunk contests how tight this team is this season. It seems like Coach Calipari has this group ready to play together. Even Big Z, who just got to Lexington yesterday, already seems close with the guys. Something feels really special about this 2023-24 Kentucky basketball team.
Antonio Reeves sure can shoot
Antonio Reeves is only the second player in Big Blue Madness history to win the three-point scrimmage in back-to-back years. He scored 26 points in his first round, and it looked like he couldn't miss if he tried. Reeves is going to have a special second season in Lexington that could end in an All-American bid.
Big Blue Nation was pumped up
The crowd at Big Blue Madness was exactly what you would expect madness. But what else would you expect from the Big Blue Nation? Kentucky has the best support system in all of college sports, thanks to how much these fans support this team and their willingness to travel all over the world to watch the Cats play. It will be another electric season in Rupp Arena.
