Former Kentucky Wildcat guard Tyler Herro, now entering his fifth NBA season with the Miami Heat, wasn't thrilled about being in trade rumors all offseason, especially since the perception was that Portland did not value him as sufficient return in a potential Damian Lillard deal.

Herro is using that slight as motivation entering the 2023-24 campaign, hoping to prove once and for all his value.

"I'm one of the best young scorers in the league," Herro told Locked on Heat host Wes Goldberg, "and I have the potential to be the best scorer in the NBA at some point."

Herro has averaged 20+ points per game in each of his past two seasons, but he hasn't come particularly close to leading the league yet - with Joel Embiid's 33.1 PPG the benchmark last season. Herro's 20.1 mark was 44th last year.

However, Herro is still just 23 years old, and his scoring output is similar to the numbers of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum, and Nikola Jokic at the same age.

Whether he can take the climb up into the 30 PPG mark, of course, remains to be seen, but Miami fans certainly can't wait to see an extra motivated Herro heading into a pivotal 2023-24 season in the loaded Eastern Conference.
