OXFORD, Miss. -- The depth of the Ole Miss Rebels offensive line has been tested early in fall camp as center Caleb Warren is dealing with a nagging knee injury.

The senior started in 12 games for the Rebels in 2022 and is expected to be the starter this upcoming season, but has been forced to don a non-contact jersey the first week of camp.

Warren updated reporters on the status of his injury during his press conference on Thursday.

"It's something I dealt with a little last year," Warren said. "Everything's good to go and I'm progressing back in so I'm looking forward to a good season."

In Warren's absence, senior Reece McIntyre and true freshman Brycen Sanders have stepped up and both linemen appear ready to be key depth pieces for the Rebels in 2023.

"They have been doing really well," Warren said. "I help them where I can, but they're doing well. Brycen [Sanders] has had a really good fall camp and so has Reece [McIntyre]. It's been nice to see them each step up and give Coach Garrison confidence in case something were to happen."

McIntyre arrived at Ole Miss as a three-star recruit in 2019 and after primarily playing on special teams, is making a push for a role along the offensive line this season. Sanders was a four-star recruit in Ole Miss' 2023 signing class and is already making an impact in his first year.

Jayden Williams and Micah Pettus started at left and right tackle, respectively, for Ole Miss after starting as redshirt freshmen in 2022. Both appear to be locked into those positions entering the 2023 season and Warren discussed how the two have progressed over the course of the offseason.

"Tremendously," Warren said. "From on the field to off the field, they've progressed in a million different ways. Looking forward to them having a big year."

Pettus has already been named to the preseason watch list for the Outland Trophy, which is annually presented to the best lineman in the country from both sides of the ball.

Victor Curne and Quincy McGee arrived in Oxford this spring via the NCAA Transfer Portal and both players have the skill set to play multiple positions. Warren mentioned how the two have looked in their first SEC fall camp.

"[Curne] is really really good," Warren said. "He's very coachable. He doesn't say much, he just puts his head down and goes to work. Quincy is the same way - he talks a little bit more he's fun to have around. But when it comes to work, they get after it."

Warren gave high praise for his unit entering the 2023 season.

"This year, I feel like, is the most experience we have had [on the offensive line] since I've been here in my five years," Warren said.
