After initial reports surfaced on Wednesday that South Carolina Football target and four-star defensive back Jalewis Soloman wouldn't be attending South Carolina's July Cookout event, I followed up with the Georgia native to try and confirm these reports. While there was an initial scheduling conflict that would've made it difficult to go to Columbia, Solomon confirmed to me that he still plans to go to the Gamecocks' annual cookout event on July 28th.

Jalewis' cookout visit comes at a pivotal time for the Gamecocks, as Solomon will be making his college decision just eight days later on August 5th, between the following schools: Texas A&M, FSU, South Carolina, Auburn, and Kentucky. As evidenced by Soloman's recruiting itinerary, Florida State has been viewed as one of the top contenders alongside the Gamecocks for the past couple of months. However, Auburn seems to be a team that's gaining momentum with the rising senior at this time due to a family connection, as Jalewis' older brother, Zykeivous Walker, currently plays on the defensive line for the Tigers.

It's also being reported that some teams are now offering to take him as a wide receiver over his primary position at defensive back. However, South Carolina is still recruiting him as a defensive back under secondary coach Torrian Gray. Buckle up folks, because this recruitment could very likely come down to the wire.
