Where Will Malcolm Ziglar Commit?

South Carolina Football target Malcolm Ziglar is set to make his college decision. Where is he going to end up?

Multiple long-time targets on South Carolina's Football recruiting board are set to make their commitments over the next few weeks, including Jalewis Soloman on August 5th, Daniel Hill on August 23rd, along with some other targets like edge rusher Dylan Stewart and running back Daniel Hill. However, one target that hasn't been on the Gamecocks' radar for quite as long is set to make his decision later this afternoon, and that target is safety prospect Malcolm Ziglar.

Ziglar, who's listed at around 6'2 and 200 pounds according to his recruiting profiles, is down to eight teams heading into his decision: South Carolina, North Carolina, Clemson, Notre Dame, Penn State, Kentucky, East Carolina, and App. State. Ziglar has visited the Tar Heels on three different occasions, according to his On3 recruiting profile, the latest of which was an official visit to Chapel Hill on the weekend of June 23rd through the 25th.

The Gamecocks have hosted Ziglar for two trips to this point, once during Spring practice back in March and again for an official visit on the weekend of June 9th-11th. Based on Malcolm's recent social media activity, the two teams with the best chance to land him are South Carolina and North Carolina.

Fellow Gamecock commits like Dante Reno, Kelvin Hunter, Kam Pringle, and Mazeo Bennett were all active on social media this past weekend trying to make one final pitch to Ziglar. North Carolina has the best chance to land Ziglar if we base decision this on his visit count and the proximity to home.

For some reason, however, I have a sneaking suspicion that South Carolina is the team that's going to land Malcolm's pledge. I have no concrete information to go off of, but with the relationships he's built with South Carolina commits and the chance to be developed by one of the best secondary coaches in the country in Torrian Gray, I think the Gamecocks will pull a mini surprise and snag their fourth defensive back commit later today.
