Just one day before Early National Signing Day, the Cavaliers have added a talented playmaker from the Commonwealth of Virginia to their 2024 recruiting class.

Kameron Courtney, a three-star athlete who has excelled as both a wide receiver and a defensive back for Freedom High School in Woodbridge, Virginia, announced his commitment to Virginia on Tuesday afternoon and plans to sign a National Letter of Intent to attend UVA on Wednesday.

Courtney, a 6'0", 190-pound athlete from Manassas, included UVA in his top five back in June, but ultimately committed to Indiana in July. When the Hoosiers parted ways with head coach Tom Allen, Courtney reconsidered his recruitment. UVA hosted Courtney for an official visit last weekend, during which Courtney announced that he had decommitted from Indiana.

It seemed only a matter of time before Courtney flipped to the Cavaliers and sure enough, he announced his commitment to Virginia on Tuesday evening. In addition to Indiana and UVA, Courtney also held offers from North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Duke, Boston College, and several other schools.

Courtney's trip to Charlottesville this past weekend came just one week after his most recent visit to Virginia, as he played in the Class 6 state title game at Scott Stadium on December 9th. Courtney had 74 yards and two touchdowns in that game, including a 49-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that sealed the win for Freedom over Highland Springs.

Courtney is the definition of a versatile playmaker, excelling as a defensive back, wide receiver, running back, and kick returner. On defense, he tallied 52 tackles and three interceptions and was named First-Team All-Met Defense by the Washington Post. However, it seems to be his offensive talents that will be utilized the most at Virginia, as UVA wide receivers coach Adam Mims was the primary recruiter for Courtney.

Appropriately considered an "athlete" by 247Sports, Courtney is ranked the No. 84 overall athlete in the country in the class of 2024 and the No. 20-ranked recruit in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
