Husky Commits Are Rising Quickly In National Rankings

Recruiting service On3 updated its rankings and these UW targets are on the rise.

Getting back over the coveted 50 percent blue-chip ratio is an important factor when talking about the long-term outlook for the Washington football program. After a wildly successful week on the recruiting trail securing 11 commitments over a week and a half, recruiting services are starting to take notice of the talent the Husky coaching staff has brought in.

In a national rankings update, On3.com has placed five Washington commits inside its top 300. Those five players don't include four-star offensive lineman Paki Finau, who has yet to receive a national ranking from the site.

As of July 11, On3 has edge rusher Noah Carter ranked as the top prospect in the Husky class. The product of Centennial High School in Arizona is sitting as the nation's 145th overall prospect and appears to still be rising as he starts to focus on playing edge and not wide receiver.

Two spots behind Carter is Birmingham High School's Peyton Waters. At 147th overall, the four-star safety from California continues to look like a big win for co-defensive coordinator Chuck Morrell and the entire coaching staff.

The biggest riser in the class to this point has been Oaks Christian receiver Justice Williams. Most major recruiting sites didn't even have the 6-foot-4 California pass catcher ranked when the month of June began and now the son of Super Bowl champion Roland Williams sits at 189th overall according to On3.

The coaching staff pushed hard to secure a top-flight defensive-line class and the fruits of its labor are starting to show. Four-star edge rusher Dominic Kirks from Villa Angela-St. Joseph in Cleveland, Ohio, sits outside of Washington's normal recruiting footprint, but inside the nation's top 250 recruits at 247th.

Quarterback Dermaricus Davis of Etiwanda High School in California has also continued to rise since his commitment and has earned his fourth star from On3, ranked as the nation's 281st prospect. The final member of the Husky class ranked inside the top 300 has all the tools to wind up as a successful signal-caller at the next level.

The rise that these prospects have seen since their commitment speaks volumes to Kalen DeBoer and his coaching staff's talent-evaluation process. As the staff continues to try and fill up the class of 2024, keep an eye out for more committed members who should continue to rise through the rankings.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
