Charlie Morton records his 1800th career strikeout

"Uncle Charlie" becomes only the 123rd pitcher in MLB history to reach that mark

Charlie Morton, 39 years old, is still as good as ever. The Braves righty recorded his 1800th strikeout in the top of the 4th inning, elevating a fastball past Marlins OF Bryan De La Cruz.

The only thing that was surprising is that it wasn't a curveball.

Morton's been an incredibly valuable member of the Braves rotation for the three years he's been here, winning a World Series with the team in 2021 after breaking his leg during the outing and finishing the inning.

After being drafted in 2002 by Atlanta in the 3rd round, Morton remade himself at age 33 in 2017 when he signed with Houston, and went on to be a two-time All Star and finished 3rd in the 2019 AL Cy Young voting.

Despite being thirty-nine, Morton's stuff is as good as ever.
