TAKEAWAYS: Atlanta throttles Colorado to win Sunday's matchup and sweep the series

The Atlanta Braves used some timely homeruns to come back and sweep the series

Atlanta has had themselves a SERIES against the Colorado Rockies. On Sunday, the Braves came back from an early 5-0 deficit to take the lead and run away with the series finale, 14-6. Here's your takeaways from Atlanta's sweep-clinching victory:

Eddie Rosario is having a June for the ages

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

We talked a lot on this site about "Marcell May", after Marcell Ozuna used a massive series in Miami to catapult himself into a heater that lasted the entire month of May and brought his .081 batting average up to a respectable .241.

Looks like Eddie Rosario was taking notes.

Eddie went off on the Arizona Diamondbacks to open the month of June, hitting a triple and two homeruns - one being the series-winning grand slam in the 9th inning of game three - to start his month off right. Rosario continued against Colorado, homering in the final three games of the series, with eight RBIs and four runs.

He accounted for Atlanta's first four runs in this one, as he hit a 2nd inning three-run homerun off of Rockies pitcher Chase Anderson, added an RBI single in the 3rd inning. and sent a two-run shot out to right-center in the bottom of the 6th. It was a career-high 6 RBIs kind of day for Eddie Rosario.

Michael Harris II is all the way back

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

There was some questions a few weeks ago about Michael Harris' slumping bat and what it meant for the Braves offense. As a good hitter against righties in a lineup that was constructed to crush lefties, he's a crucial counterbalance.

I think the questions are answered.

Harris went 5-5 today, launching a no-doubter in the 5th inning and finishing with three runs scored and three RBIs, just a triple shy of the cycle.

Money Mike is 15-27 with three homeruns, nine RBIs, and seven runs scored in his last seven games, and has hit .393 over the last two weeks. His hot streak means it's virtually impossible for opposing pitchers to get an "easy out" in this Braves lineup, as anyone from one through nine is not only a threat, but can take you deep.

The offense was just ridiculous in this series

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

For the four games, Atlanta outscored Colorado 39-12 and hit eleven homeruns.

In Sunday's game, specifically, every single hitter both got a hit and scored at least one run with a single exception, Austin Riley (who went 0-6 on the day with two strikeouts, albeit with a 110 mph groundout in the 7th that had an expected batting average of .500).

On the season, seven of Atlanta's nine lineup regulars have ten or more homeruns, led by Matt Olson's twenty.

Here's the wildest stat to me: With Michael Harris II launching one 453 ft today, that's the sixteenth homerun of 450 or more feet on the season.

The RECORD in the Statcast era was set by the 2021 Colorado Rockies, who hit nineteen of that length. Over a full season.

Atlanta may break that by next weekend.

Charlie Morton got roughed up early, but rebounded to earn the win

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Morton gave up a first-inning homerun to Ryan McMahon, one of the two McMahon would hit in the contest, before allowing four more runs in the 2nd inning after the first five batters all reached (single, walk, fielding error, single, walk).

Bu he recovered, and allowed only two more hits (both singles) over the final three innings. He exited after striking out the side in the fifth inning, finishing the game with five hits and five runs (three earned) with three walks and eight strikeouts, earning the win.

What's next for the Atlanta Braves?

Atlanta is flying to Philadelphia tonight and have an off-day on Monday before starting a three-game set against the Phillies. First pitch in Tuesday's series opener is set for 6:40 PM ET, with Spencer Strider scheduled to face off with LHP Ranger Suarez. The game broadcast, with Voice of the Braves Brandon Gaudin, is available inside Braves Country on Bally Sports South and is available on MLB.TV outside of the broadcast area. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on 680 AM/93.7 FM The Fan or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com.
