Duke Tobin Makes It Clear Bengals Will Take Best Player Available in First Round of 2023 NFL Draft
CINCINNATI — The Bengals have the 28th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and all positions are on the table, including tight end and running back.
"Any position group is hard to eliminate," Bengals Director of Player Personnel Duke Tobin said on Thursday. "We're open to any position that presents itself if they're the best player available."
Tobin was specifically asked about running back and tight end. The team is clearly open to guys like Dalton Kincaid, Michael Mayer, Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs.
But it comes down to best player available. They aren't going to reach to fill a need and they won't take a lesser talent with the 28th overall pick due to positional value.
"If the best guy available is a tight end, then we'll probably go that route," Tobin said when asked about tight end.
Of course he eliminated specialists and made it clear they don't need a quarterback in round one.
It's probably safe to eliminate linebacker, but the Bengals are clearly open to most positions with the NFL Draft just one week away.
