Ja'Marr Chase on Separation Against Titans: 'I'm Always F****** Open'
CINCINNATI — Tennessee whooped the Bengals 27-3 on Sunday as the offense sputtered throughout the game after the first drive.
Ja'Marr Chase had a decent showing with seven catches on nine targets for 77 yards in a frustrating afternoon. Still, the offense went a third game this season without a completed pass over 20 yards (one attempt total).
"Nah I'm open," Chase said when asked if he felt he had less space in this game. "I'm always fuc**** open. Excuse my profanity, I'm sorry."
Chase is confident he can be the spark to get this offense going, but it's hard to carry that load on one player's shoulders in the NFL. Cincinnati may not have much choice with the tight end position no showing this season and Tee Higgins suffering a rib injury.
"Yeah, I've always been," Chase said about being a spark. "Trying. I had two good runs in the first quarter. I thought that was gonna help us. Maybe I need to get in the end zone to get that spark. They did the same thing the whole game. Blitzed on second and third down."
This start marks the first season of his young career without multiple touchdowns in the opening month of the season. He doesn't even have one as the offense grossly falls short of expectations.
