Joe Burrow Addressed Team Following Bengals' Loss to Titans: 'It Brings You a Different Type of Fire'

The star quarterback was frustrated after Cincinnati's 27-3 loss to Tennessee.

CINCINNATI — Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow addressed the team following their Week 4 loss to the Titans.

The 26-year-old was adamant that they were going to work through their struggles and be better moving forward.

"You can tell he was frustrated with the loss. Like I said, he's got a lot of passion for the game and he shows it when we lose," wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase said on Thursday. "As a captain, that's what we need from those guys. Pick the team back up, let them know that we faced adversity, our backs against the wall, now we gotta fight."

Burrow called Sunday's game against the Cardinals a "must-win." The Bengals are 1-3 and desperately need a win if they're going to get back in the AFC North race.

"We're in this slump right now and we gotta get out of it," Chase said when summarizing Burrow's message.

Burrow wasn't listed on the injury report for a second-straight day. He's moving around more in practice and hoping to be more effective this week against the Cardinals.

His message resonated stars like Chase, but also had an impact on rookie wide-out Andrei Iosivas.

"He was kind of speaking what everybody was thinking, but it's nice to hear it from the leader," Iosivas said. "He chooses his words wisely. It's nice to hear it and when you see your leader have some emotion it's nice, it brings you a different type of fire."

Burrow was clearly trying to set the tone for a team that has underperformed in the first month of the season.

Cincinnati entered this year with Super Bowl expectations. Now they're just hoping to pick up their first road win of the season.

Burrow didn't share any details about what he said to the team, but did acknowledge that he talked to the group.

"You always got something to say, especially after a situation like that," Burrow said on Wednesday. "Obviously I'll keep that between us keep that in the locker room but we put it to bed."
