Ted Karras: 'O-Line Needs to be Perfect' If Quarterback is Limited

Cincinnati allowed plenty of pressure on Sunday.

CINCINNATI — Ted Karras and the Bengals offensive line weathered a tough day in Tennessee as the Titans posted nine QB hits on Joe Burrow during their 27-3 win.

The center noted how the offensive line pursued perfection with Burrow fighting the calf injury.

"We need to need to play better in every position group," Karras said. "Starts with the offensive line. And we did some decent things today. But you know, we're not going to sit back and say 'Joe's not 100%. So we only put up three points.' That's just not that's not how we're going to roll this year.

"So we need to find a way to make some plays. Protection was decent, broke down a little bit at the end. But you know, if your quarterback is limited, I don't know to the extent of it is, but the O-line needs to be perfect and we were not today."

Burrow was under fire all day long. Whether rooted in his lack of mobility, an increasingly predictable scheme dynamic, or poor play along the front, Cincinnati has big issues all over the offense.

Cincinnati entered the game ranked 28th in PFF pass block grade.

The line allows a low-pressure percentage, but that's not hard to do when Burrow ranks top five in fastest time to throw, bottom five in intended air yards and longest completed pass. They'll try to avoid a massive climb to playoff contention with a win over Arizona next Sunday.
