NFL Network's Jason McCourty on Trey Hendrickson: 'A Force to be Reckoned With'
CINCINNATI — Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson has been one of the most consistent producers at his position this decade and it warranted a shoutout from Jason McCourty on Good Morning Football.
He picked Hendrickson as his defensive lineman who deserves more praise this week.
"This guy has been an absolute monster for the Bengals after coming over from the New Orleans Saints, where he had 13.5 sacks for the Saints," McCourty said. "Then goes in his first year with Cincinnati and racks up 14 sacks. Over the last three seasons, 35.5 sacks. That puts him fourth in the NFL behind Myles Garrett, TJ Watt, and of course, Hassan Reddick's been balling as well. But this guy is so disruptive.
"Last year only had 8 sacks, and people will say 'Well maybe he had a down year?' Hit the quarterback 18 times and has just been a force to be reckoned with in that Lou Anarumo defense. And he's been a big reason why Cincinnati has been able to make a huge jump. Played in a Super Bowl a year ago, competing last year in the AFC Championship game. So look for him to continue to ball out there and more people need to be talking about Trey Henderson on the Cincinnati Bengals."
Hendrickson ranked 15th among edge rushers in total PFF grade (82.9) last season because of a lacking run defense mark (58.8). Yet, he ranked eighth in pass-rush grade (87.7)
Cincinnati has Hendrickson in the fold for the next two seasons before he enters unrestricted free agency in 2025.
