Zac Taylor on Jordan Battle: 'Going to Continue' Getting Heavy Snaps As Season Rolls On
CINCINNATI — Jordan Battle has shown more than enough in games to be Cincinnati's starting safety alongside Dax Hill moving forward. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor basically said he's the top player over Nick Scott now, without completely saying it.
Battle (77.3 grade) is PFF's third-highest-graded player on the Bengals' defense this season across 153 snaps.
"I thought he made the most of his opportunities," Taylor said about Battle's game against Baltimore. "So we're going to continue to rely on everybody moving forward. But Jordan did a great job. You saw him play a lot of snaps in this game that's going to continue as we go forward. So again, it's all about grabbing the opportunity that's in front of you, and I think Jordan's done a good job of that. He's got to continue to be consistent going forward."
The rookie posted his second-highest grade of the season with 73.9 overall in Thursday's loss to the Ravens. His 56 snaps were a career-high.
Meanwhile, Nick Scott (36.4 overall this season) has played some rough football in 2023. He is the Bengals' lowest-graded defensive player to notch at least 100 snaps.
He's missed the third-most tackles on the defense through 10 games.
