Gerald McCoy Names Trey Hendrickson Among NFL's Three-Most Under-Appreciated Pass Rushers

Cincinnati has gotten a monster first-half of the season from Hendrickson.

CINCINNATI — Good Morning Football analyst Gerald McCoy wants Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson to get more love as he slotted second in the analyst's list of underappreciated pass rushers this season.

He slotted in third behind the Eagles overlooked duo of Josh Sweat and Haason Reddick.

"I'm gonna go with a guy in Cincinnati that I played against when he was in New Orleans," McCoy began. "Trey Hendrickson. Listen, when he was in New Orleans, we will be on the other sideline saying, 'Hey, listen, who is that guy that's not Cam Jordan? He is killing us right now!' So when he got his big contract in Cincinnati, we said, 'Oh yeah, he deserves it.' what has he done since being there? 43.5 sacks over the last four seasons. He's got eight this year.

"He led the Bengals in sacks in all of his seasons that he's been there and he's a two-time Pro Bowler. But he doesn't get any love. Nobody talks about Trey Hendrickson at all. And he is consistent, consistent, consistent. This guy can get after the quarterback and he doesn't get enough love."

Hendrickson is on pace to bust through his career-high in sacks this season (14 in 2021). He's largely driven a Bengals pass rush that has him doubling the next closest sack total (Sam Hubbard/B.J. Hill with four).
