Winners and Losers From Cincinnati Bengals' 31-17 Win Over San Francisco 49ers
The Bengals beat the 49ers 31-17 on Sunday, picking up a huge road win to improve to 4-3 on the season.
Here are our winners and losers from the game.
Winners
Joe Burrow
Burrow looks like he’s all the way back following the calf injury that slowed him down earlier this season. He was near perfect on Sunday against the 49ers, completing 28-32 passes for 283 yards and three touchdowns. He also added an impressive 43 rushing yards to his performance as they went on to dominate San Francisco.
With how well Burrow played today, it’s safe to assume he’s back to his usual self. I’d expect this great play to continue next week against the Bills.
Ja’Marr Chase
Despite a couple mistakes, Chase was a difference maker against the 49ers. He caught 10 passes for 100 yards and one touchdown.
Chase has been one of the best receivers in the NFL since he entered the league and is one of the most important players on the Bengals roster.
Germaine Pratt
The Bengals linebacker made one of the plays of the season against the 49ers. Brock Purdy had a wide open receiver in the end zone and Pratt stepped in front of him to intercept it.
The Bengals signed Pratt to a three-year extension this offseason and it’s paying off already.
Logan Wilson
Wilson grabbed his 10th career interception on Sunday in a game where he also led the Bengals in tackles with 11. The defense had a great performance against one of the best teams in the league, and Wilson was a huge part of that.
Joe Mixon
The Bengals have desperately needed more out of their rushing game this season and Mixon gave them exactly that on Sunday. He ran the ball 16 times for 87 yards and one touchdown.
At the start of the season the Bengals struggled both at passing and running, but it was very clear if they didn’t have a better run game they’d be in trouble. Today was a great sign for the Bengals offense and they’ll need to continue this in the following weeks.
Losers
Irv Smith Jr.
The Bengals have had poor play at the tight end position all year and Smith is a big part of that. He fumbled the ball on the one yard line just before halftime and took points off the board for the Bengals.
It doesn’t seem likely that the Bengals will make a move for a tight end at the deadline, so they’ll need Smith to step up very soon.
