Zac Taylor Defends Tyler Boyd Following Crucial Late-Game Drop Against Texans: 'A lot Of Things That We Could Have Done Better'

Cincinnati is 5-4 at the bottom of the AFC North standings.

CINCINNATI — The Bengals lost a heartbreaker 30-27 to the Texans as the momentum from a four-game winning streak came to a halt. Joe Burrow threw two costly interceptions but in the end, had Tyler Boyd wide open in the end zone on a perfect pass that Boyd dropped.

Head coach Zac Taylor noted the team has to focus on the quick turnaround for a divisional Thursday night game against Baltimore.

"No, everybody knows," Taylor said when asked if he talked to Boyd about the drop. "Again it's he's gonna put a lot on himself because it's at the end of the game, but there's so many opportunities we had over the course of the game. Players and coaches, all of us, there's a lot of things that we could have done better so we weren't in that position."

Outside of the drop, it was Boyd's first 100-yard game of the season with 117 on eight catches (12 targets). He could've scored the go-ahead touchdown on his previous catch but got caught inside the 10-yard line on a 64-yard reception.

"Wouldn't have even been down there if it wasn't for him," Joe Burrow said about the drop. "Obviously, you'd like to come down with it, but we were able to go down and tie it up."

Cincinnati is still in the basement of the AFC North and could start flipping things toward a first-place path on Thursday. The climb from 5-4 starts again for the third consecutive season.
