Ja'Marr Chase on Bengals' Longest Passing Play of 2023 Season: 'I Knew it Was Touchdown'
CINCINNATI — Ja'Marr Chase poured in a Bengals record 15 catches on Sunday, including the biggest play of the season for Cincinnati on a 63-yard route over the middle of the field for a score.
Chase walked through the play that set a career record for single completed air yards by Joe Burrow and aided the 34-20 win over Arizona.
"Basically it was like a post from like a split of the field," Chase began. "I just seen it was Cover 2. Once I seen the safety get out of there, I knew it was touchdown. It was just like we drew up from practice. Perfect play, perfect play call, perfect call.
Cincinnati leaned on Chase without Tee Higgins and he delivered when the Bengals needed a big offensive day. Chase etched himself further into team history as Cincinnati sits one game back of the playoffs through five weeks.
"We just taking a step closer to who we really are," Chase said. "Like I said we gonna keep facing adversity this year. It's not going to be an easy season. Right now, just take it step by step into the next week."
Chase posted the third-most single-game receiving yardage tally of his career on Sunday (192). He also became the first player in NFL history with multiple games of 10+ catches, 150+ yards and 3+ TDs in his first three seasons in the league.
