Browns QB Deshaun Watson Says he Will Soon Talk to DeAndre Hopkins to see Where Things Stand
There has been talking of DeAndre Hopkins eventually being moved from the Arizona Cardinals this off-season. Cleveland Browns need to add another wide receiver, while it doesn't have to be a wideout of Hopkins' talent, there's an obvious reason why Cleveland could be a fit.
Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson and Hopkins were a very good duo in their time together in Houston. In 38 games played together, Watson has thrown for 9,716 passing yards to go along with 71 touchdowns and 29 interceptions. Hopkins was responsible for 25 of those touchdowns.
As far as Hopkins potentially coming to Cleveland, Watson admitted he understands it has to make sense on all fronts.
"It just really depends on if it's serious or not as far as if we can really get him," Watson said on a recent episode of The Q With Quincy Avery.
"That's something that you got to be able to look at overall; cap space, trade and different things like that. You know, talk to the coaches, being able to see like alright this is something serious that can really happen."
If all of those things can happen, Watson knows how he would go about it. Even saying the two will talk here soon.
"Once you kind of know, then it's like alright just communicate with him, nothing too serious. Me and D-Hop have been friends for a while and we'll actually be in the same area this weekend so we'll chop it up and see where things kind of hold place but nothing is guaranteed. You just kind of let it flow from there."
It's not likely that Hopkins ends up on the Browns, it would be a ton of money split between him and Amari Cooper. The talent would be there in the receiving room but it could be tough when filling out a complete roster.
Nonetheless, it is something to watch as we know anything can happen in the league.
