Report Says Greg Newsome II did Want Trade From Browns, Newsome Said Different Today

A new report says that CB Greg Newsome II did indeed want a trade from the Cleveland Browns, despite what he told the media today.
In this story:

Cleveland Browns CB Greg Newsome II told the media today that he hopes to spend his career in one place and finish it with the Browns. Newsome shot down the rumor that he requested a trade but another report has surfaced that Newsome did indeed request a trade.

The report states that Newsome fired agent Damarius Bilbo after Bilbo was not able to get a trade done for Newsome. Newsome is now represented by Drew Rosenhaus.

When it surfaced that Newsome wanted a trade, he revealed he wasn’t very fond of the news.

“I really just don’t understand something like that,” Newsome said today. “I wouldn’t do that. I truly adore Cleveland. I was definitely mad.”

Many believe that Newsome may eventually want out of Cleveland if he is stuck defending the slot for the long haul. The Browns corner said he felt like a linebacker at times last year under Joe Woods’ defense, but that he feels better about Jim Schwartz’s plan already.

“I didn’t change agents to try to get out of here,” Newsome stated. “I changed agents because I think for my career, it will help me in the long run. I changed agents just for personal reasons.”

Newsome is just now heading into the third year of his contract that will have a fifth-year option since he was a first-round pick.
