Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb was recently voted as the best at his position by those around the NFL. With that comes others that may be looking at the payday he got a couple of years ago for three years and $36 million.

Recently, Chubb participated in a Zoom call with running backs around the league to speak on what is happening to the running back market. Chubb was invited by Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler. This comes about as running backs like Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, and Tony Pollard were unable to reach long-term deals with their respective teams due to a gap in money wanted.

“I just take it a day at a time. I’m just focused on coming out here and going to work,” Chubb stated.

Since coming into the league, Chubb has been a quiet guy that just goes about his business. He has always been a vital part of Cleveland’s offense. He’s rushed for at least 1,000 yards each of the past four seasons and would have his rookie season if Carlos Hyde was pulled earlier, which he should have been. Last season, it was a career-high 1,525 rushing yards for Chubb.

“I’m there with those guys too. I understand the situation and know it can be me one day,” said Chubb who is signed through next season. “I’m just playing both sides. I’m here for my team but I’m also understanding the situation that I could be in.”

Chubb has just $4 million in dead cap next season, so he may be looking for a deal next offseason. He has never been one to really speak out on issues but suiting up in the final season of his deal with no money guaranteed in the future is a risk. The Georgia product will make $12.2 million total in 2024.

“If we’re taking the most risk and doing the most, we should be valued more.”
