Cardinals Not Putting Timetable on Kyler Murray's Return
The Arizona Cardinals still have a handful of questions to answer over the course of the offseason, yet none are bigger than the health of quarterback Kyler Murray.
Murray tore his ACL/meniscus in Week 14 of the 2022 season, putting his status for the beginning and even the midway point of 2023 in jeopardy.
There's been some sightings of Murray rehabbing on social media, it's still fairly early to dictate where exactly his return is at.
New Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said he while Murray was progressing and doing the things he needed to do, he wasn't going to place any expectations on when his franchise quarterback should return:
"I'm not going to put a timetable on that right now," Gannon said when asked about Murray. "Whenever Kyler is fully healthy to play, that's when he'll play."
That of course contradicts an earlier statement from owner Michael Bidwill when he appeared on Arizona Sports 98.7 and said Murray could return earlier than anticipated.
“He wanted to play me 1-on-1 today, so I guess he’s doing pretty good — and I will beat him in 1-on-1,” Gannon added with a laugh.
New offensive coordinator Drew Petzing was extremely complimentary of Murray.
"It's gonna be a hot topic I hear," said Petzing on Murray's health.
"He's been in the building so I've had a chance to talk to him a lot over the last couple of days when I got out here and he's been great. I think he's really attacking the rehab. Really excited about what we got going on. So it's been great to get to know him and I look forward to that continuing these next couple of days.
"The way that he's attacking his rehab and just his competitive nature and how much winning matters him is really impressive. I think it's been fun to see. It's been fun to be around even in a short time. So it's gotten me excited to see him and coach him moving forward."
