With all the changes affecting the Giants coaching staff, let's keep track of what's going on as head coach Brian Daboll reshapes his staff. (The newest entries are at the bottom.)

The Giants coaching staff is believed to be complete as of February 7, pending any more unexpected departures.

Current Coaching Vacancies/Hires

  • Running Backs Coach: Jeff Nixon resigned to take a college job at Syracuse at the end of 2023. Joel Thomas was hired on January 16 to fill the vacancy.
  • Strength and Conditioning Coordinator Craig Fitzgerald resigned to take a college job at the University of Florida at the end of 2023. Aaron Wellman was hired on January 16 to fill the vacancy, which has been re-titled Executive Director of Player Performance.
  • Special Teams Coordinator Thomas McGaughey was fired on January 8. Former Jets special teams assistant Michael Ghobrial was hired on January 25 to fill the role.
  • Offensive Line Coach Bobby Johnson was fired on January 8. Carmen Bricillo was hired on January 11 to fill the vacancy.
  • Outside Linebackers Coach Drew Wilkins was fired on January 8. Charlie Bullen was hired on February 7 to fill the role.
  • Defensive Assistant: Kevin Wilkins was fired on January 8. Zak Kuhr was hired on February 7 to fill the role.
  • Defensive Coordinator Wink Martindale officially resigned from his position on January 10. Shane Bowen was hired on February 5.
  • Tight Ends Coach Andy Bischoff is leaving the Giants to join the Los Angeles Chargers coaching staff, as first reported on February 5. Tim Kelly was hired on February 6.

  • Giants general manager Joe Schoen told reporters at the Senior Bowl that the team expects to wrap up its defensive coordinator search by the end of the week. That would presumably eliminate Brendan Daly of the Chiefs since he can't be hired until after the Super Bowl. Also eliminated from consideration is Bobby Babich, who was promoted to defensive coordinator for the Bills.

January 31

  • Ravens defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson, who was believed to be the front-runner for the Giants defensive coordinator role, has been hired by the Tennessee Titans to be their new defensive coordinator, per multiple reports.

February 3

  • The Seattle Seahawks reportedly requested and were denied permission to interview Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka for their offensive coordinator role on new head coach Mike Macdonald's staff. Kafka had also been a finalist for the Seahawks coaching vacancy.

February 4

  • The NFL Network reports that the Giants interviewed an eighth candidate for their vacant defensive coordinator role, that being Vikings passing game coordinator/defensive backs coach Daronte Jones. It's unclear exactly where the interview took place, but it was said to have happened at some point during the week of the Senior Bowl practices, where Jones was in town to serve as the defensive coordinator for the National Team.

February 7

  • The Giants have hired Charlie Bullen and Zak Hukr to fill the team's vacant outside linebackers and defensive assistant roles.
  • The Giants also promoted three current assistants, giving them additional responsibilities as follows: offensive coordinator Mike Kafka was named the assistant head coach; defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson was given defensive passing game coordinator duties; and quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney was given offensive passing game coordinator duties.
