CINCINNATI — The Bearcats are expected to have at least eight players taken in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Cornerback Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner will likely be the first one off the board, followed by star quarterback Desmond Ridder.

The New York Giants selected Gardner with the No. 7 pick in Sports Illustrated's latest mock draft

"Brian Daboll recently described James Bradberry’s status (and a potential trade to the Chiefs) as a “fluid situation,” but it’s a reasonable assumption that Bradberry won’t be on the Giants’ roster in 2022," Kevin Hanson wrote. "New York is fortunate to have the opportunity to select the CB1 of this draft class to fill the void. Gardner is a lanky corner with elite length (33½" arms), toughness and confidence. He checked the box by showing his long speed (4.41 40-yard dash) at the combine and his change of direction and agility are good for a corner with his height. 'Sauce' has ended each of his three seasons in Cincinnati with three interceptions."

Meanwhile, Ridder falls out of the first round. The Atlanta Falcons take the 22-year-old with the 43rd overall pick.

It wouldn't be a bad fit for Ridder. He'd be going to a team that had a veteran quarterback in Marcus Mariota that could start during the first half of the season, which would give him time to develop and adjust to life in the NFL.

Ridder would also be able to maximize his athleticism, speed and ability to run by playing all of his home games in a dome.
