CINCINNATI — Former Bearcats safety Bryan Cook just started his first NFL Training Camp practices as a pro and gave some insight into how he prepared for the grind. It was a simple formula for Cook: running, running, and more running.

"Running," Cook said to reporters over the weekend. "Running, running, running. That's pretty much it. There was obviously the mental part – the NFL is 90 percent mental, so I dove in the playbook – but [the running] was major during the offseason."

Cook made a play in his first practice showing—punching a ball out for a fumble. He is ready to make an impact in a safety room that has to replace former All-Pro Tyrann Mathieu.

"Whether it was track workouts, gassers, or jogging around the neighborhood, I was just trying to make sure my body was in the best shape it could be," Cook said. "I know it's a little different out here – we're actually playing football now – but I wanted to give myself the best opportunity to be ready."
