CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati Athletic Department is spicing things up at Fifth Third Arena.

The school sent a request for qualifications this week for construction workers to renovate team hype rooms, install new state-of-the-art locker rooms, plunge pools, and player lounges, including multi-purpose rooms, team dining areas, and other utility spaces.

After the Board of Trustees approved the project in June, the total cost is projected at $6 million overall for the 10,000-square-foot renovation.

A majority of this construction will take place on the third floor of Fifth Third Arena. The current timeline has UC starting the planning in August, with construction beginning in March 2023. The RFQ set a completion date for November 2023.

Cincinnati did just renovate the arena in 2018-19 through an $87 million project, but this is the next step to bring more of those student-athlete facilities up to Big 12 levels.
