Emory Jones Excited For Game Action: 'Thinking Too Much' at Previous Schools

Cincinnati faces Eastern Kentucky on Saturday.

CINCINNATI — Bearcats football leaders including quarterback Emory Jones met with the media on Tuesday ahead of Game 1 this Saturday against Eastern Kentucky.

Jones noted how this year he's just trying to play football and not think as much on the field as he tries to make plays and have fun.

"Not really thinking about individual things," Jones said. "Honestly, just have fun. Like, that's just one thing I probably have not been doing the last couple years playing quarterback, probably thinking too much, trying to get too much."

The Arizona State transfer is on his third school in as many years and has a chance to prove individual and UC doubters overall wrong behind a completely revamped receiving corps.

"Me and Coach (Pete) Thomas were talking about it the other day he thinks it's probably the best receiver group he's ever been with and for me I think it's the same," Jones said about the unit. "We did a really good job of recruiting those guys bringing them in."

Now, Jones is just days away from throwing big play opportunities against another team.
