On3 Gives Scott Satterfield a D Grade Following Opening Season at Cincinnati

Cincinnati failed for much of the season.
In this story:

CINCINNATI — On3's Jesse Simonton released his first-year Power Conference head coaching report cards this week and Scott Satterfield earned a flat D for his 3-9 season in Cincinnati.

Only now-fired Mississippi State head coach Zach Arnett (D-) earned a worse grade among new coaches.

"Not unsurprisingly, it was mostly a forgettable Year 1 for Satterfield at Cincinnati," Simonton wrote. "And that’s not a good thing for a head coach, who was eying a reset after making the move up I-71 last offseason. The Bearcats went 3-9 in 2023, their worst season in nearly 25 years. The program’s transition to the Big 12 was always going to be difficult, but it was actually nightmarish — 1-8 in conference play, with multiple blown leads. While Satterfield didn’t inherit the roster Luke Fickell utilized to such success, Cincy’s defense regressed badly and the offense was a mess all year."

Satterfield and his staff have a lot of work to do in trying to get Cincinnati to a competent level in the Big 12 after a last-place finish in Year 1.
