Travis Kelce Reveals Unique Way How Cincinnati Football First Offered Him

Kelce's career could've gone a lot different without one coach noticing him.

CINCINNATI — Travis Kelce revealed a fun story about how UC football first offered him a scholarship.

Kelce noted on the New Heights Podcast presented by Wave Sports that he was visiting campus as a basketball recruit when former strength coach, Paul Longo, wondered why he hadn't been on the football program's radar.

"I was Cincinnati through and through, basically, I went to the University of Cincinnati for like a basketball camp," Kelce said. "Visited Jason (Kelce) the rest of that weekend, stayed with him in the dorm, got to meet everybody on the team, and also got to meet a few of the coaches at one of the spring ball practices that Jason was having. And sure enough, I walked out of Cincinnati with a scholarship that day. Paul Longo, the strength guy asked for my highlight tape. Big Ed Kelce made sure that I didn't go to Cincinnati without it."

Longo had a major influence on both Travis and Jason's football careers. He made the call to switch Jason to center and was the initial driving force behind Travis playing football at Cincinnati.

"Paul switched my position and he's the reason you got a scholarship to Cincinnati," Jason said. "Shout out to the strength coach man, Paul Longo, absolute legend."
