UC Secures Commitment From Three-Star 2023 Wide Receiver Ty Perkins
CINCINNATI — The Bearcats added their 17th 2023 football commitment on Tuesday in three-star wide receiver Ty Perkins out of Ironton (Ohio).
According to On3 consensus, Perkins is the 838th-ranked player in the class and the 119th-ranked wide receiver. He is a Top-25 Ohio recruit on 247Sports and marks the sixth 2023 Top-25 Ohio player to commit to UC. Perkins held offers from schools like Pittsburgh, Army, and Northwestern.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound receiver reminds me a lot of a raw Alec Pierce. He has a similar build and maximizes his impact on long-developing crossing and deep routes. He has a nice fifth gear in the open field and has all the makings of a strong, high-point receiver in the Big 12. Toss in decent blocking form on runs, plus, big-play ability as a kick returner, and you get another strong addition to what's shaping up as a historic recruiting class. Check out his highlights here.
UC offered the pass-catcher at last week's Nipp at Night camp, and he wasted little time making his decision. Perkins is teammates with 2023 UC commit Trevor Carter, who got the ball rolling on the class this past fall. Cincinnati now boasts the fifth-ranked 2023 class on 247Sports and is tied with Northwestern nationally for the second most commits behind Texas Tech (20). Of the nine recent commitments, Perkins is the only one that didn't commit after an official visit.
