Georgia Tech releases depth chart ahead of game at Ole Miss

There are some changes to the depth chart this week for Georgia Tech

It is Tuesday, which of course means it's Georgia Tech depth chart day.

Brent Key held his weekly media availability ahead of the game this weekend and afterward, the depth chart was released. There were some notable things on this one.

At quarterback, of course, there is no surprise. Haynes King has played well through the first two games of the season and is coming off a four-touchdown performance against South Carolina State. He has experience in the SEC and that experience is going to be needed this weekend in Oxford.

At running back, I was interested to see if Jamal Haynes would be named the starter, but the coaches are still going with the "or" designation for Dontae Smith, Haynes, and Trey Cooley. Haynes and Cooley were the two leading ball carriers last weekend and that might be the case this weekend.

At wide receiver, Chase Lane is out this week and that could mean that true freshman Eric Singleton Jr. could get the start. Malik Rutherford is going to be one starter, while Abdul Janneh or Dominick Blaylock will be the other.

Dylan Leonard is going to remain the starter at tight end. The others play plenty and Brett Seither has two touchdown catches this season.

On the offensive line, true freshman Ethan Mackeny is listed as the starting left tackle. Mackenny played most of the snaps against Louisville and started last week and played well. This is a big step up in competition this week. Connor Scaglione will start at right guard and Jordan Williams at right tackle. Joe Fusile and Weston Franklin are playing well this year and starting again at left guard and center.

On the defensive line, Zeek Biggers, Makius Scott, Kevin Harris, and Eddie Kelly are likely to be the starters. Kyle Kennard won ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week and will factor in significantly against the Rebels. This is going to be an important position in this week's game.

At linebacker, Trenilyas Tatum and Paul Moala will be the starters. Last week, backups Braelen Oliver and Kyle Efford played snaps and played well. I will be interested to see how much time they get this week.

Myles Sims and Ahmari Harvey remain at cornerback and LaMiles Brooks at safety. The "or" designation remains for Jaylon King and Clayton Powell-Lee. K.J. Wallace is the starter at nickel.

Kicker was a shaky position for the first two weeks. Gavin Stewart was replaced by Aidan Birr last week after another miss and on this week's depth chart, there is an "Or" designation between the two kickers.

Georgia Tech vs. Ole Miss kicks off this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on SEC Network.
