Before Brent Key returned to Georgia Tech in 2019 to be the offensive line coach and later the head coach, he was the offensive line coach at Alabama. During the 2016 season, current Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin was the offensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide. This week, the two former Nick Saban assistants meet on the field for the first time as opposing head coaches when Georgia Tech travels to Oxford to take on the Rebels.

During his Monday press conference to start the week, Kiffin was asked about his previous relationship with Key and what he knew about him. Kiffin spoke highly of Key and this is what he had to say:

"Yes. He did a really good job. I actually tried to hire him before at one point. Really good line coach and a good teacher and a good recruiter and he is doing a good job there."

Kiffin has done a good job of building Ole Miss into a perennial top-25 team and this is going to be a good early measuring stick for the Yellow Jackets. Last year, Ole Miss came to Atlanta and pummeled Georgia Tech 42-0 and Key will hope to have his team ready to put up a better performance.

So far, Georgia Tech looks to be an improved team through two games. Offensively, the Yellow Jackets are playing much better compared to a year ago when they played Kiffin's team, but there is some concern defensively. The Yellow Jackets have had trouble tackling and getting pressure on the quarterback, two issues that Kiffin will look to exploit this weekend.

Currently, the oddsmakers have Ole Miss as a 17.5-point favorite this weekend in Oxford. The game will be televised by the SEC Network and will kick off at 7:30.
