8:32 p.m. update

There's truth to the Jeremiah Smith has not decided yet story, from what I have heard from multiple sources. As it stands right now, there's no telling how this ends, nor exactly when.

6:12 p.m. update

Look for Miami comparison articles, such as against UGA, FSU, UF, etc., coming in the next few days. Going to be interesting. There are still a few unsigned recruits around the country, but about 98% of the top players are done with their recruitment.

6:04 p.m. update

It's official, Armondo Blount has flipped back to the Miami Hurricanes from the Florida State Seminoles:

Blount Signs with Miami Hurricanes

6:00 p.m. update

LJ McCray will stay home and play for the Florida Gators. That helps UF have a better day, as many expected McCray to sign with Auburn.

5:49 p.m. update

Closing in on Armondo Blount's announcement. It's happening around 6:00. Also, a quick note. Here's the link to scroll through all the Miami National Signing Day recruiting news:

5:33 p.m. update

If McCray is signing today, it's not likely to be for Miami:

2:58 p.m.update

The last player to wait on would be defensive line recruit Armondo Blount. He's announcing at 6:00 p.m. tonight.

2:56 p.m.update

Another fantastic comment from Cristobal, "Talent and character acquisition."

With how college football players are hitting the Transfer Portal, it's imperative that Miami finds the right fits. It's a good bet that Cristobal places a lot of emphasis on character each time Miami evaluates a high school prospect or someone from the Transfer Portal.

2:40 p.m.update

One of the best quotes one will hear from Cristobal is, "The human-skyscraper, Markel Bell."

2:38 p.m.update

If you want to watch along live, here's Mario Cristobal's National Signing Day:

2:36 p.m. update

I was just told an interesting backstory with Jeremiah Smith a few minutes ago. He was really nervous before going up to the table and announcing with Ohio State. He even had his hands over his ears before going to the table; just kind of zoned out.

There was a lot of buzz for Miami and he did have the Canes hat with him. From a contact, Smith again said that OSU won out because of the long-time proven development with the Buckeyes.

2:04 p.m. update

Alabama flips Miami commitment Kevin Riley.

1:43 p.m. update

Before Mario Cristobal's press conference at 2:00 p.m., wanted to give a shout-out to all the people involved with setting up the recruiting videos! Well done!

1:30 p.m. update

Adarius Hayes is coming to the University of Miami!

Adarius Hayes Flips From Florida Gators To Miami Hurricanes

1:10 p.m. update

It's going to be interesting to see how Miami uses wide receiver Joshisa Trader. He's played in the slot and out wide for both of Chaminade-Madonna and South Florida Express 7v7.

1:05 p.m. update

Smith wanted a proven track record at that specific school. This was the biggest concern working against Miami all along. He had told me almost a year ago that development at Ohio State was why he originally committed there. The following tweet from Manny Navarro backs up that sentiment once again.

12:51 p.m. update

The majority of UM signees are already done with their letters of intent. There's still the question of Kevin Riley and whether he goes with Bama or Miami. He's making an announcement at 2: p.m.

Also, will it be Florida or Miami for Adarius Hayes? He's coming up at 1:00 p.m.

There's the 6:00 p.m. signing for Armondo Blount, too. Look for UM here.

12:29 p.m. update

As expected, Jeremiah Smith signs with Ohio State.

Joshisa Trader to Miami!

12:20 p.m. update

CJ Bailey is heading to North Carolina State.

12:18 p.m. update

Here's a link to the Chaminade-Madonna updates.

11:46 a.m. update

Not sure about the timing of the announcement, but it looks like Ohio State for Jeremiah Smith. Check out the tweet below:

11:38 a.m. update

How about this? Good for D'Eriq King!

11:34 a.m. update

Getting close to the time that each of the Chaminade-Madonna players will announce their intentions. Zaquan Patterson is already signed with UM, but there are still Jeremiah Smith, Joshisa Trader, CJ Bailey, and other Chaminade-Madonna players to officially sign their letters of intent.

10:52 a.m. update

Some of the other Canes that have now signed with UM today include offensive lineman Nino Francavilla, defensive tackle Daylen Russell, and running back Chris Wheatley-Humphrey. Let's discuss the last of those three.

He's a burner, without question. Wheatley-Humphrey also prefers playing inside the tackle box despite being a track athlete who could have gone that route instead of football if he desired.

Wheatley-Humphrey once told me that inside zone is his favorite play. That's a great sign considering how much Miami likes to play power football.

He's also a player that can play in the slot or be used in the screen game. Not enough people are discussing Wheatley-Humphrey and I am here to say that the South Broward High School running back can ball!

10:46 a.m. update

Elias Rudolph is a Cane. He is still having a ceremony later but know his letter of intent is in. Check out his National Signing Day profile:

Miami Hurricanes Have Officially Signed Elias Rudolph

10:41 a.m. update

Just saw this video and wow! What a catch by UM signee Ny Carr!

10:25 a.m. update

The newest Cane comes from the state of Nevada!

Elija Lofton

10:17 a.m. update

This should end well for Miami:

10:15 a.m. update

Beyond Miami, look for Bama, Georgia, and Auburn to improve their classes. The team that's interesting is LSU. With Texas A&M losing so many kids and most being from Texas where LSU recruits a lot, there could be a lot of drama on the bayou by midnight.

10:10 a.m. update

You can't win them all, and the news that Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland defensive back Zavier Mincey will sign with Alabama keeps coming out. That's a recruitment that UM put a lot of time in and it would sting to lose Mincey at the 11th hour.

9:59 a.m. update

The newest signee would be offensive tackle recruit Deryc Plazz from Jacksonville (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna. He's a 6-foot-5 and 280-pound athlete with a lot of upside. Here's his profile:

Deryc Plazz

9:56 a.m. update

Have not heard anything one way or the other on American Heritage defensive back Xavier Lucas, which could be looked at many ways. He would be a welcome addition to the Miami secondary. Hard to find quality defensive backs that are 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds.

9:54 a.m. update

Still no definitive word on what Transfer Portal quarterback Cameron Ward will do, but what about Chaminade-Madonna quarterback CJ Bailey? Do not forget, UM has been going after him as well.

9:48 a.m. update

Looking at the national recruiting landscape, do not be surprised if Miami sneaks into the top five by the end of the day. There's obviously Jeremiah Smith to consider, but there's also Adarius Hayes (see the good news below), and potentially more, that UM might reel in.

Nothing new on the Kevin Riley front but everything yesterday that was learned says Bama signs him.

9:39 a.m. update

With defensive tackle Justin Scott in the fold, here's part of what AllHurricanes likes about him from the 2024 Commitment List and Evaluations page you can read with the link above.

Powerful and agile, Scott is an unusual defensive tackle because he provides all of the size, athleticism, and natural agility that is usually seen with players who weigh 240 or 250 pounds. He's capable of playing 5-technique in a 4-3 during short-yardage situations or being a true defensive end within a 3-man line scheme.

Yes, Scott can play nose guard, but that's not his best position long-term. In a perfect world, he's playing in an up-the-field 4-3 defense. That just happens to be what the Hurricanes operate under Lance Guidry.

Scott will need to continue to refine the technical aspects of his game, but he's an absolutely elite talent and one that could play early in Coral Gables. Miami's gain is Ohio State's loss.

Also, each UM signee's National Signing Day article is live on the front page.

9:26 a.m. update

Despite Joshisa Trader not yet signing with Miami, that's coming. Don't worry @CoreyCarmona, it's going to happen.

9:24 a.m. update

Not hearing good things for Miami with regards to Zavier Mincey. Not surprisingly, he could be a big part of Alabama's massive National Signing Day haul. Bama might land current Ohio State commitment Eddrick Houston as well. Good grief.

9:20 a.m. update

Everything points to Adarius Hayes signing with the Miami Hurricanes. He's all but deleted everything UF related on his Instagram account.

8:59 a.m. update

One of the most underrated Miami signees is one Canes fans should know more about. I am really high on this young man's all-around abilities. Learn about Dylan Day:

Dylan Day Profile

8:52 a.m. update

The Chicago area has now sent UM two recruits with defensive end Marquise Lightfoot giving Miami his signed letter of intent.

8:32 a.m. update

The biggest Cane in the class could be junior college offensive tackle Markel Bell. At 6-foot-8 and 335 pounds, he's a long athlete that's set to protect the edge for the Canes. Welcome to The U!

8:29 a.m. update

Of note, 247's Steve Wiltfong put in a crystal ball for current UF commitment Adarius Hayes. He's a big-time linebacker/edge from Largo (Fla.) High School!

8:27 a.m. update

Kicker Abram Murray, defensive tackle Artavius Jones, and do-everything defensive back Dylan Day are all Miami Hurricanes!

8:12 a.m. update

Next, it's linebacker Booker Pickett, Jr. and edge defender Cole McConathy!

8:10 a.m. update

Now the Canes have two more signees: linebacker Cameron Pruitt and defensive tackle Justin Scott!

Every signee has a prospect profile article going up on the main page of AllHurricanes.

8:03 a.m. update

Three more Canes are officially signed: Ny Carr, Chance Robinson, and Romanas Frederique!

7:50 a.m. update

Zaquan Patterson and Judd Anderson are already signed, and so is recently flipped Ohio State running back Jordan Lyle:

National Signing Day - 6:35 a.m. update

Good morning and welcome to National Signing Day!

As mentioned here at AllHurricanes often, recruiting is fluid. Nothing is official until a recruit officially signs the letter of intent. That's ironic considering the first piece of intel I woke up to this morning.

First text is about Jeremiah Smith and the Florida Gators still making a concerted effort to land him. How much Smith reciprocates the interest is a totally different situation (see below). As much as someone might be surprised by UF still coming hard after the Chaminade-Madonna talent, it honestly makes sense.

UF is bleeding recruits, i.e. decommitments, and if the Gators were to land the nation's #1 recruit, that would go a long way to making the UF fanbase feel much better.

Further, signing Smith would relinquish some of the heat off of head coach Billy Napier. Do I personally think Smith signs with Florida?

No. I do not. As mentioned yesterday in the Four Recruiting Questions article, it's likely to be Miami, Florida State, or Ohio State in my opinion. I could be dead wrong, but what Transfer Portal quarterback Cameron Ward plans to do will impact Smith's decision. That is, of course, if Ward makes his intentions known to Smith and/or makes a public announcement.

Four Miami Recruiting Questions Before National Signing Day

Smith and his teammates will sign today around noon. Zaquan Patterson and Joshisa Trader will be two other Chaminade-Madonna recruits signing and both will put pen to paper for The U.

Dec. 19, 7:20 p.m. update

Everything will get going tomorrow morning with a few Miami recruits officially signing. Players like Artavius Jones, Judd Anderson, Chris "Hellcat" Wheatley-Humphrey, and many more, will be signed by early afternoon. There's obviously the big announcement ceremony at Chaminade-Madonna.

That's the school where UM prospects Joshisa Trader (committed), Zaquan Patterson (committed), Cedric Bailey, and Jeremiah Smith all attend. They are all signing during the same long ceremony. There's going to be a lot of players signing from that high school, so the actual time that any one of them signs should be considered fluid.

Finally, expect the unexpected. The updates will be flowing tomorrow!
