CINCINNATI — The Reds have emerged as the leaders to sign Jeimer Candelario according to MLB insider Mike Rodriguez and Jon Morosi of MLB Network.

Candelario spent time with the Cubs and Nationals last season, posting a .251 batting average with 22 home runs, 70 RBI and an .807 OPS.

The 30-year-old spent most of his time at third base, but also made 21 starts at first base.

Morosi did note that if the Reds signed Candelario that they would likely trade an infielder before Opening Day.

There's been plenty of Jonathan India trade speculation, but he remains on the roster and the Reds have made it sound like he's in their future plans.

It'll be interesting to see if they can add Candelario—a veteran that would add more power to their lineup.
