Joe Burrow Continues to Improve, Confident in Movement Ability Despite Calf Injury
CINCINNATI — Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow continues to recover from a right calf strain that kept him out for most of training camp, the entire preseason and has bothered him in each of the first five games this season.
The good news is it was feeling better in Week 5 and Burrow led Cincinnati to a 34-20 win over Arizona. That trend continued on Wednesday.
"I feel good. I feel good, keep getting better, so it's exciting," Burrow said. "I'm confident that I can run around and extend and make plays right now, so it's tough to say percentage wise, but we're pretty close."
Burrow didn't practice for five weeks after suffering the initial injury on July 27. He aggravated it in Week 2 against the Ravens and played eight days later. The treatment has been the same, but the recovery has gone much smoother.
"No, it was a different spot the second time, so it wasn't quite as intense," Burrow said. "Right now, I'm feeling really good and just got to keep it that way."
It's worth noting that he tweaked a different spot of his calf. He's clearly recovered much faster this time around.
Burrow completed 36-of-46 passes for a season-high 317 yards and three touchdowns against the Cardinals. He knows it'll be a challenge to beat the 3-1 Seahawks.
"They're a really good team and they've proven it this year so far," he said. "We're focused on getting better every day. We've got to be 1-0 this week."
