Winners and Losers From Cincinnati Bengals' 34-20 Win Over Arizona Cardinals

Cincinnati is 2-3 following Sunday's win over Arizona.
In this story:

The Bengals beat the Cardinals 34-20 to improve their record to 2-3 on the season.

Here are our winners and losers following the win:

Winners

Ja’Marr Chase

The Bengals superstar receiver said last week that he’s “always open." That was a true statement. Chase had a Bengals record 15 receptions for 192 yards and three touchdowns.

With Tee Higgins out, the Bengals needed to rely on Chase to be a game changer and that's exactly what he was on Sunday.

Joe Burrow

After a very slow start to the season due to his calf injury, Burrow returned to his usual form against the Cardinals. Not only did he have a great game statistically with 317 passing yards and three touchdowns, but he just looked like his normal self. He was running around extending plays and was also able to break off a couple of solid runs to extend drives.

One of the biggest keys to Burrow’s success is his ability to move around the pocket and to extend plays. Due to his injury, we haven’t seen much of that from him this season. Against the Cardinals he was able to move around and also step in to throws more often, especially for his deep touchdown pass to Chase on the Bengals' first possession of the second half.

Cam Taylor-Britt

With Chidobe Awuzie out, Taylor-Britt stepped up and had a quality game against the Cardinals, including a pick-six to give the Bengals the lead for good.

Although the Bengals secondary has had a rough start, Taylor-Britt has had a solid season and they’ll continue to count on him with some big games coming up.

Zac Taylor

The Bengals had a brutal run of offensive performances to start the season. A lot of that fell on Burrow not being healthy, but even with that they had some struggles with the scheme.

Taylor and the Bengals offense looked much improved against the Cardinals and looked back to their usual strength. With their record being 2-3, they’ll need to build on this performance and keep it rolling into next week as they try to get to .500.

Trey Hendrickson

The Bengals star defensive end continued his form of great play with another impressive performance. Hendrickson was dominant against the Cardinals, finishing the game with 2.5 sacks and one tackle for loss. Hendrickson also broke up a pass in the second half. He has continued to be an impact player for this defense.

DJ Turner II

The Bengals second round pick had another impressive performance in Week 5. Turner was good in coverage and chipped in with four tackles. After the turnover in their secondary this offseason, the Bengals needed Turner to step up and contribute right away.

Germaine Pratt

Pratt led the team with 10 tackles against the Cardinals. He also had an interception and two tackles for loss. The Bengals signed him to an extension this offseason and it’s already looking like a great decision.

Losers

Nick Scott

After a rough start for the Bengals in coverage, Jordan Battle saw more time at safety on Sunday in place of Scott. The veteran has struggled to start his Bengals' tenure and there's a chance Battle could replace him in the starting lineup at some point this season.

Cordell Volson

The Bengals interior offensive line has had a shaky start to the season as a whole, but Volson has struggled. He had a rough performance again against the Cardinals. Hopefully for the Bengals, he will improve quickly as they are matched up against the Seahawks who were able to pressure the Giants at will last week.
