Tyler Boyd Has Right Mindset, Despite Uncertainty Surrounding His Future With Bengals

The 28-year-old showed up for workouts on Tuesday.

CINCINNATI — Tyler Boyd was all smiles on Tuesday afternoon following his first training session with his teammates this offseason.

He didn't show for voluntary workouts until Tuesday because he wanted to spend more time with his daughter this offseason, but he was clearly happy to be back at Paycor Stadium.

"It felt great. I've been working on conditioning, I feel good out there," Boyd said. "But it's still day one. I got my legs under me and just happy to be around the guys again."

The 28-year-old is entering the last year of his contract. The Bengals added wide receivers Charlie Jones and Andrei Iosivas in the draft. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Boyd isn't complaining about the lack of a new contract.

"This is my home for now. I'm not going to worry about the unexpected," Boyd said. "I'm here to finish this year out and whatever happens happens. But I know we have a very, very high chance of making the Super Bowl and even winning, and this is where I want to be. Whether I come up with a new deal or not. I got to just go out there and I'm gonna be me. I am very appreciative of them still wanting me to be around and knowing that they don't want to trade me and things like that. But at the end of the day I just gotta help guys get better. I mean, we ain't gonna be playing ball forever. I might not be here forever. But I mean I've always loved this franchise and I'm always going to be a Bengal."

The Bengals are hoping to sign Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins to contract extensions this offseason. Ja'Marr Chase is eligible for an extension next offseason.

It would be surprising to see them pay Higgins, Chase and Boyd at wide receiver.

The veteran has appeared in 103 regular season games. He has to 446 career receptions for 5,333 yards and 29 touchdowns.

He has the right mindset, even if this could be his last season in Cincinnati.
