Ja'Marr Chase Reacts to D.K. Metcalf's Comments Ahead of Bengals' Matchup With Seahawks

Cincinnati hosts Seattle on Sunday at Paycor Stadium.
In this story:

CINCINNATI — Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf believes rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon "will get the best" of Ja'Marr Chase on Sunday in the Bengals' matchup with Seattle.

Chase had a chance to react to the comments on Wednesday.

"He ain't doing nothing but praising his teammate. That's what he's supposed to do," Chase said. "At the end of the day it's about game time reps and game time decisions. He gonna get the opportunity to get his matchups and just see who wins that matchup."

Chase could see Witherspoon on Sunday, but he'll also be matched up against Tariq Woolen. Both guys are young, quality cornerbacks that should present a good test for all of the Bengals wide receivers.

Chase didn't take the comments personal. He enjoys the trash talk.

"They're just spicing up the game," Chase said. "Spicing up the game a little bit. Making us have more energy coming into the game. That's all it is."

Chase had 15 receptions in the Bengals' 34-20 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5. Metcalf praised him, before making the comments about Witherspoon.

“He’s just a great receiver," Metcalf said about the 15-catch performance against Arizona. "Tip my hat off to him with what he’s done the first 3 years in the league. It’ll be fun to watch Sunday, but I think Spoon will get the best of him.”
