Todd McShay: Desmond Ridder is 'Kind of Blowing Away' NFL Teams

The analyst also said it won't surprise him to see Ridder be the third quarterback selected in the 2022 NFL Draft.

CINCINNATI — Desmond Ridder has steadily risen up NFL Draft boards throughout his time at Cincinnati, and he's still making a push ahead of the 2022 draft next month. Multiple analysts believe Ridder is currently the biggest riser among the top-five QBs, including ESPN's Todd McShay.

He was on the First Draft podcast this week and said Ridder had the best throwing session at the NFL Combine—while impressing scouts with his football acumen.

"I thought he had the best passing session of anyone at the combine," McShay said on the show. "From everyone I talked to in the league, they were kind of blown away, and they all kind of looked at each other when he left the room from interviews, 'this guy's got it, like whatever it is, he's got it.' I think if there's such thing as a rising player—Ridder certainly is there. And it won't surprise me if (Kenny) Pickett and (Malik) Willis, in whatever order, are the first two quarterbacks off the board, but the third could be Ridder."

It's not surprising to see Ridder keep climbing after what he accomplished at Cincinnati. McShay also discussed how much he's improved his mechanics in a short time working with Jordan Palmer.
