Report: Jarron Cumberland Signing With Portland Trail Blazers

Cumberland impressed NBA decision makers at the G League Showcase.

CINCINNATI — Another UC product is reportedly getting their shot on an NBA roster this season. The Athletic's Shams Charania reports that the Portland Trail Blazers are signing Jarron Cumberland to a 10-day hardship contract.

Cumberland just won G League Showcase Cup MVP honors in Las Vegas earlier this week and is getting his first shot on an NBA roster. He played on the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Raptors 905 last year before starring at the showcase this season on the Delaware Blue Coats.

Portland is dealing with about 33% of its roster in COVID-19 protocols.

Cumberland is one of the most consistent players in UC history, ranking top-10 in assists (415) and games played (133).

The guard should make his NBA debut sometime this week.
