The Ole Miss Rebels thought they had their quarterback of the future until they didn't.

Four-star 2024 quarterback Demond Williams Jr. announced his commitment to Arizona on Twitter Monday. Williams was committed to Ole Miss but announced a decommitment July 7 after attending the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles.

“First I would like to thank Coach (Lane) Kiffin, Coach (Charlie) Weis, and all of the Ole Miss staff that has believed in my abilities and been there for me since day 1," Williams said in a statement to On3 in July. "I will forever appreciate the consistent love from the fanbase and community of Oxford."

In the video Williams posted of his commitment to Arizona, it appeared his lifelong dream was to become a Wildcat. Amidst montage highlights from his visit to Tucson, Ariz., a home video was included at the end with a 10-year-old Williams surrounded by his family and announcing his commitment to Arizona in 2016.

"I'm Demond Williams Jr., quarterback, D1 football," a 10-year-old Williams said. "I would like to thank all the colleges for having interest in me, but without further ado, I'll be taking my talents to the University of Arizona."

Ole Miss has had some issues on the trail recently holding commitments with decommitments from Williams as well as interior offensive lineman Joseph Cryer. Cryer announced his commitment to LSU Monday.

However, the Rebels landed three transfers over the weekend in Miami cornerback Chris Graves, Clemson linebacker TJ Dudley and JUCO wide receiver Marquis Willis.
