What Does Tennessee Still Need In 2024?
Four-star interior offensive lineman William Satterwhite (Akron, Oh.) is the latest addition to Tennessee's 2024 recruiting class. Satterwhite comes in at 6-3 and 300 pounds, giving him the size to play guard or center in college. Recently, Tennessee has also garnered commitments from other offensive players, such as four-star running back Peyton Lewis, four-star wide receiver Braylon Staley, and four-star athlete Boo Carter.
Tennessee's class total now sits at 16 committed prospects, giving the Vols plenty of room to work with. While they have added some players over the past few weeks, they also lost out on a few battles, and the board is shrinking. There are still a few areas of need that the coaching staff must address before early national signing day.
The line of scrimmage has been their No. 1 priority during this cycle. The Vols have seven linemen committed, four on the offensive side of the ball and three on the defensive line. However, they aren't done adding on both sides of the football. They are still without a ready-made SEC tackle, though four-star offensive line commit Gage Ginther (Fort Collins, Colo.) could eventually play tackle later in his development. Tennessee's eyes are on four-star offensive tackle Bennett Warren (Sugar Land, Tx.), one of the largest tackle prospects in America that love Tennessee.
They still have multiple targets on the defensive line that are takes for this coaching staff. Williams Nwaneri, Kamarion Franklin, and Jordan Ross are all uncommitted, and the Vols can't afford to come out with zero of these targets. Franklin and Ross have Tennessee among their top contenders, while Nwaneri is still considering Tennessee, though not as seriously as he was before this summer.
The Vols are still reloading their wide receiver room. Staley was their first addition to the class, but the coaching staff wants to take four receivers in the class. It's perhaps their biggest want in the 2024 class. There are three clear targets: Mike Matthews, Ryan Wingo, and Amari Jefferson is their preferred group to go along with Staley. Wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope has spent a lot of time developing relationships with each, and the second-year assistant is in the most crucial recruiting stretch of his short career.
