Joe Burrow Asked Aaron Rodgers For Advice on Playing Through Calf Injury
CINCINNATI — Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow played through a calf injury in Cincinnati's 19-16 win over the Rams on Monday night. He plans to continue to play with the injury moving forward.
Burrow sought Aaron Rodgers' advice last week as he was managing the issue and determining whether or not he could play through it.
"We connected last week," Burrow said. "He’s dealt with calf issues his whole career and wanted to use him as a resource and get his thoughts, what he might have done. I think take into account what he has to say. He’s been there, done that. And he was great about it. So, going to continue to use that as a resource. He’s a great guy. Whenever you have a guy like that that’s willing to help, you’re going to use it."
Rodgers praised Burrow after the game. He knows exactly what the Bengals star is going through. Rodgers has played through multiple calf injuries throughout his career, including one in the 2014 season that limited him throughout the Packers playoff run.
Burrow didn't share any specifics on the advice he received, but clearly it was beneficial as he evaluated his situation ahead of the Bengals' Week 3 matchup against the Rams.
"I’ll keep that between us," he said when asked about the best advice he received from Rodgers.
Burrow hopes to continue to play through the pain, avoid any setbacks and lead the Bengals to more wins. They play the Titans in Nashville on Sunday.
